She was predeceased by: her close friend Charlie Brown; her children, Willie Edward May, Evelyn May Snodgrass and Gaytrice May; and her brother Earl Nettles.
She is survived by: her son Eddie Bobby Nettles (Debra) of Beatrice, Alabama; her grandchildren, Evelyn Nettles-Hines, Mann, Edwin, Zellworth, Angela, Dominique Nettles, Gary (Nakesha), Jontue, Krystal and Britton Ferguson (Jana); her cousin Cynthia Fountain; her nieces, Vivian Wesley (Bobby) and Verita Brown; and her adoptive daughters, Gwen Shelton, Carol Dorham, Sandy Anderson and Diana Russ. She is also survived by 31 great grandchildren.
