He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Armand Rene Tanguay and Catherine Kirby Tanguay; his friend Martin; his wife Paula Chu; and his daughter Christine Fong.

He was also a founding member of the Biomimetic MicroElectronics Systems Center, a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center in neural prosthetic devices.
