He was predeceased by: his parents, Abedon Ortiz and Maria Ignacia Ortiz; his wife Dolores Ortiz; his sons, Richard Gomez and Sidney Ortiz; his grandson Richard Bautista; and his siblings, Charles Ortiz, Juan Ortiz, Abedon Ortiz Jr., Richard Ortiz, Martina Martinez and Emelia Abeyta.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Ortiz (Barbara), Ruben Ortiz (Liz) and Loretta Bautista (George); his grandchildren, Joseph Ortiz, Christina Bautista, Melissa Smith (Devon), Nicole Bautista and Travis Ortiz; his great grandchildren, Isaiah Smith and Mason Smith; and his siblings, Helen Lujan (Elena) and Manuel Ortiz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gonzales Funerals & Cremations (2315 Hot Springs Blvd, Las Vegas, NM 87701). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church (403 Valencia St, Las Vegas, NM 87701). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at the Santo Nino Cemetery.
