He was predeceased by: his parents, Balbino Alvarez and Frances Berruezo Alvarez. He is survived by: his wife Doris Elizabeth Sánchez Carter; his sister Leonore Coffelt of Leon, Iowa; his children, Kristin Sánchez Carter of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kimberly Romine (Christopher) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kerry Ensberg (Philip) of San Diego and Jeffrey Alvarez (Leslie) of Poway; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Colin, Joshua, Alder, Joseph, Madeleine, Charlotte and Lillian. He is also survived by his extended family and many friends.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Michaels Church (15546 Pomerado Rd, Poway, CA 92064). The military honors will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Military Honors Miramar National Cemetery (5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org) or to the US Department of Veteran Affairs.
