He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Gerbrandt; his children, Linda Carol Pauls (Steve) and John Douglas Wiens (Carmen Pauls-Wiens); his grandchildren, Rowan, Nolan, Daniel Pauls, Jacob, Nina and Simon Wiens; his sister Kathy; his brother-in-law Paul Epp; his nephew Anthony; his niece Lynee Rigdon (Mark); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Micah and Mychala.
During the pandemic his wife started to show the signs of her dementia and he became a caregiver for her.
