He was predeceased by: his parents, Ozzie Lee Thomas and Georgia Mae McCraney; and his brothers, Leroy Thomas and Shelly McCraney. He is survived by: his children, Djuan McCraney, Destiney McCraney, Tameka Pickens, Daya Washington and Erica McCraney (Yasmin); his sisters, Essie Wilson of Rialto and Olga Bridgeforth of Clarksdale, Mississippi; and his grandchildren, Keara LeBlanc, Jeremy Thompson, Eric McCraney III, Djuan Aqueel McCraney, Xander Reed, Michael Burks III and Madison Burks. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
