He was predeceased by: his wife Glenna Brown; and his stepsons, Ted and Jim Vahovick. He is survived by: his children, Ron Brown and Terri Bayliss; and his stepchildren, Becky Esparza, Rex Vahovick and Chuck Vahovick.
He carried on his wife's tradition of donating toys at Christmas time to the fire department.
