We are sad to announce that, on August 13, 2019 we had to say goodbye to Robert John Beaver (Riverside, California), born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara M. Beaver; his children, Krista Beaver Goodman (Steven Goodman) and David Carleton Beaver (Casey Jones); and his grandchildren, Riley Nathaniel Goodman, Elise Cordelia Goodman, Danica Paige Beaver and Nathan Robert Beaver.

“I remember when Bob interviewed me on my visit to UCR. He asked me about a data analysis problem and I suggested Poisson regression. He said that sounded like a good idea. That was Bob, supportive and generous, every day to everyone. He was a valued resource across UCR for statistical consulting. His efforts led to the formation of the department’s statistical consulting collaboratory. Bob's balance in life was special. There are not many like him. So many were fortunate to know him.”

“I am deeply saddened to hear Bob’s passing. My condolences to Barb and the family. Bob is my colleague, but also like a father. He handed me over his entire STAT120A lecture notes as well as the courage when I taught my very first class STAT120A at UCR. When he retired from UCR, he handed me over his pointer and every time when I handed it to our seminar speakers, I saw Bob was smiling. He will be remembered by all of his statistics colleagues. Wish him rest in peace.”
