He is survived by: his children, Joe Ahlering (Robin Ahlering), Kerry Bernard and Patrick Ahlering (Jessica Ahlering); his grandchildren, Payton Ahlering and Marcus Bernard; and his siblings, Elizabeth Principi, Kathy Shurtleff, John Ahlering, Tom Ahlering and Chris Ahlering. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
