We announce the death of Janice Van Benthuysen of Royal Oaks, California, who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 75. Janice will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter D. Van Benthuysen and Gladys Steketee Van Benthuysen; and her brother James Van Benthuysen. She is survived by: her husband Alvie Hurray; her children, Cristina M. Sayers and Philip B. Baziuk; her brother Walter Van Benthuysen; her grandchildren, Jessica Avila-Miller, Addison, Harlow, Keone Sayers, Jacob Brooke and Kylie Baziuk; and her great grandchildren, Hazel Avila, Thurston and Tuhllah Miller.
As a parting gift and way of honoring Janice's legacy, donations can be made to the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter.
