He was predeceased by: his wife Fotine Fotos Jovalis; his parents, Dan Jovalis and Penelope Jovalis; and his brothers, Tom and Robert Jovalis.

He is survived by: his stepsons, Dan Ballas (Katherine) and George Ballas (Sunday); his grandchildren, Diana Magee (Robert), Martha Anderson (Jason), Steve Ballas and Shawn Ballas (Sonya); his great grandchildren, Katherine, Matthew, Alexander, Nicholas and Shawn Jr.; his sister Fotine Kuchulis; and his siblings-in-law, Virginia Jovalis, Antonia Fotos, Ruseta Fotos and Demetre Fotos (Christine). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
