It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Kawano (Sacramento, California), born in Loomis, California, who passed away on February 9, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Sode Kawano and Daisaburo Kawano. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary, Shizuo, Natsuko, George, Jack, Haruye and Thom; his children, Steve (Lisa) and Dana (John); his wife Jean; his grandchildren, Lindsay (Brandon) and Lauren (Nick); and his great grandchildren, Chase and Mila.

During the pandemic, he'd watch the latest game while he and Jean folded thousands and thousands of origami paper cranes that were sent to Washington D. C. to be included as part of the Tsuru for Solidarity march in June 2020.
