It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Owyang in Sacramento, California, who passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Owyang to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parent Lum Shee Owyang; and his siblings, Chung Gun, Ah Lum, Charles (Violet), William, Henry, Frank Owyang, Marion Wong (Sing), Kathryn Leong (Henry) and Ida Toy (Harry).
He is survived by: his wife June Owyang; his children, Steven Owyang (Mami) and Kristen Chen (Darrin); his grandchildren, Ken, Daniel Owyang, Kaitlyn, Keira and Kalia Chen; and his siblings-in-law, Bessie Owyang, Dorothy Som, Gilbert Wong and Phillip Wong (Joanna). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
