It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Julie Almquist in Salida, California, who passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Miguel Romo and Estella Romo; and her siblings, Harvey Weeks, Jaime Romo and Gloria Hernandez.
She is survived by: her husband Jeffrey Almquist; her daughters, Melissa Zepeda and Stella Schmidt (Chay); her grandchildren, Revea Martinez, Talia Martinez (Frank Millan), Devenn Martinez (Sahara Gontiz), Loren Perciante (Kristina) and Kelly-Ray Morriston; her great grandchildren, Alexander Millan, Siah Martinez, Remedy Fitzpatrick and Olivia Torres; and her sister Evelyn Romo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakdale Tiny Paws Rescue or to an animal rescue organization of your choice, honoring Virginia's lifelong love of animals.
