He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Rivera Villafuerte and Felicitas Serrano; his siblings, Martin (Pedro), Jesus and Sara; and his child Mariaelena (Nena).
He is survived by: his siblings, David, Lola, Josefina and Celia; his wife Maria Isabel Soto Montoya; and his children, Antonio, Maria Isabel, Sylvia, Juan, Francisco, Miguel, Patricia and Sonia. He is also survived by wife for 60 years, 8 children who knew him as "Papa", 14 grandchildren.
