He was predeceased by: his parents, Jon Schmit and Josephine Schmit; his wife Luella "Lou" Schmit; and his son David Schmit. He is survived by: his children, Diane Cole (Jerry), Linda Schmit-Cohen, Sandy Michalec, Nancy Schmit (Karen) and John Schmit. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Struve and Laporte Funeral Home (41 W San Luis St, Salinas, CA 93901).
