He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Everett Edward Zirkle and Dorothy Edith Devore Zirkle; his wife Ana C. Zirkle; and his children, Cecilia Rivera of Gurnee, IL, Margie Schroeder of Menifee, CA, Dorothy Zirkle of La Mesa, CA and Emil Zirkle Jr. of Oahu, HI. He was also cherished by eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
