He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Mascarenhas and Rita Mascarenhas. He is survived by: his cousin Sal; his wife Gail; and his daughters, Leslie (Russ) and Gina. He is also survived by his six granddaughters; his five great-grandchildren; his many nieces and nephews; his cousins; and all of the family and friends.

One of Michael's most meaningful contributions to the Portuguese community was helping see through the completion and erection of the Tuna Man's Memorial statue, an idea that had originated with his father, Tony.
