Rose V. Burke Obituary
Rose Vinci Burke, 91 passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018. She began her life on this earth in New Haven, CT, on June 27, 1926. Her parents, Luminato and Concetta (Ferreri) Vinci, immigrated to the U.S. from Sicily, Italy, and Rose was a first generation American.
The family relocated to Washington, DC, in the 1940's, and she started working for the Federal government as a cartographer. She met the love of her life, Francis D Burke, Sr., in May 1950, and they were married on December 23, 1950. She traveled with Frank, a US Marine, to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia before landing in southern California.
Rose returned to work in the 1970's for the Federal government as a cashier at the Miramar commissary, where she was loved by both her co-workers and customers and retired in 1986. Rose's hobbies included sewing, crafting, and cooking, always trying new recipes on her family. She was a devoted wife and Mother, who loved her husband, children, and grandchildren with all her heart, and they will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Francis D. Burke, Sr; children, Patricia C. Berzins (Gunars), Kathleen F. Evans, Francis D. Burke, Jr., and Toni A. Ellex; grandchildren, Anthony J. Evans, Michael D. Uyeda, and Patricia V. McQuay (David); sister, Carolyn Vinci; nephews, John F. Rose's family would like to thank the staff at Kearny Mesa Convalescent and Nursing Home and Avalon Hospice for the care and comfort shown to her.
