With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sammie REE James (San Diego, California), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 19, 2025 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Mae James and Thad James; and his siblings, Bobby Rucker, Willie Fortenberry, Robert Fortenberry, Lawrence "Thad" James, Jean Lundy, Betty Jean James, Thaddie Bell James, Carolyn Pittman and Ursula James.
He is survived by: his wife Lucinda James; his children, Roshawnda James and Samuel James; his grandchildren, Markell Prince, Ashanti Prince, Taneya Prince and Tennyson James; and his brother Romal James (Jackie).
Viewing was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Anderson~ragsdale Chapel (5050 Federal Blvd, San Diego, CA 92102). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 2:15 PM at the Miramar National Cemetery (5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122).
