He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Berlanga and Ernestine Berlanga; and his brothers, Raul S. Berlanga, Daniel S. Berlanga and Jose Berlanga (Pepe).

He is survived by: his brother Pete (Sylvia); his child Janessa; his brother Frank (Rachel); his siblings' children, Frank Berlanga, Veronica Morgan, Renee Quintanilla and Lesa Berlanga; and his great-uncle Daniel S. Berlanga. He is also survived by his three siblings, their spouses, nieces, and nephew.

“I am very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I will always cherish our close friendship of over 30 years. We shared many fun times together including a five week foray through Europe. I will also always cherish the river outing with Charlie's family in San Antonio. His family is very close and very loving. I loved spending time with them especially his mother Ernestine and brother Frank. Charlie was definitely a family man. He looked forward to his trips home for Thanksgiving every year.”
