With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Irene Amate in San Francisco, California, born in Tipton, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 13, 2025 at the age of 103. She was predeceased by: her husband Andrew Amate; her children, Dorothy Jensen and Robert Amate; her sister Geraldine Garlick; and her mother Clara Smith.

She is survived by: her daughters, Gerry Arevalo and Denise Hughes. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
