He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Kenneth Jr. Patterson and JoAnn Patterson (Ross); and his brother Tim. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Radtka of San Francisco; his children, Todd Patterson (Rene), Staci Patterson Forcier (Jeff), Lori Storment (Phil) and Lisa Ellis (Jim); his siblings, Rob (Nancy), Tom and Vickie Patterson; and his sisters-in-law, Kathy Patterson and Susan Bologna. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
