He is survived by: his wife Irene Melo; his children, Maria Jesualda Leal (Carlos Leal) and Joe Melo Jr. (Nickell Melo); his grandchildren, Paul Leal (Sahar Leal), Brian Leal, Brittany Melo and Nicholas Melo; and his great grandchild Sophia Leal.
