He is survived by: his daughter Laurie DeMelo of Portland, Oregon; his grandsons, Daniel Vogel and Robert Vogel; and his sisters, Terezinha Araujo of San Jose, Deolinda Tavares of Montreal and Aida Pereira of San Jose, California. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Mariano's memory to make a donation to the Portuguese Organization for Social Services and Opportunities (POSSO) and/or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF).
