He was predeceased by: his children, Lanhuong Thi Nguyen, Hoang Minh Nguyen (Hoanggiang Thi Nguyen) and Van Minh Nguyen; and his parents, Cuu Thi Nguyen and Nhu Quang Nguyen.

He is survived by: his wife Quynh Thi Thach; his children, Duong Minh Nguyen (Mydung Thi Tong), Thanhnga Thi Nguyen, Luong Minh Nguyen (Anh Hong), Thuymai Thi Nguyen (Dung Huu Nguyen) and Bangtam Thi Nguyen; his son-in-law Toan Tan Le; and his grandsons, Quan Minh Nguyen and Trongle Tan Le.
