He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Merlin Wheatley and Charmaine Wheatley; his daughters, Sarah (Nils) and Anne (Ryan); his siblings, Diana (Ron), Glynis (David), Charmaine, Terry (Pam) and Danielle (Brian); his grandchildren, Henry and Mabel; and his close friend Nancy. He was also cherished by six nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Jose Police Chaplaincy or the American Cancer Society.
