Ursula Anne (Bertero) Smith Obituary
We are sad to announce that on February 25, 2021, at the age of 87, Ursula A. Smith, formerly of San Jose, California, passed away at her home in Middletown Springs, Vermont. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Jules F. Bertero, MD and Mary L. Bertero (Connolly) of Santa Maria, California.; and her sister Mary Theresa Torre (Gene) of San Jose, California.. She is survived by : her children, James F. Smith, Jr. (Melanie) of Omaha, Joseph Smith (Anita Jog) of La Jolla, California, Christopher Smith (Terese) of Playa, Stephen Smith (Christian Sarver), Ursula Durland (William) of Seattle and Nora Smith (Camdon Draeger) of Bozeman, Montana.; her grandchildren, Lauren, Maddie Smith of Omaha, Beatrice, Henry Smith of La Jolla, Hannah and Mara Durland of Seattle; her former husband James F. Smith of Bozeman; her sisters, Antonia Weldon (Tom) of Pebble Beach and Marta O'Rourke (Pat) of Huntington Harbor; and also, Erica Hale (Andrew) of Sandy and Don Peavy (Siri Eliasen) of Bozeman. She is also survived by Linda Peavy, her partner of some thirty-plus years—and loving caregiver of the past year.
Ursula's love of books was a constant in her life, and donations can be made in her name to Middletown Springs Public Library, P. O. Box 1206, Middletown Springs, Vermont 05757 - https://middletownspringslibrary.org Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
