He is survived by: his sibling Scott; his wife Tori; his daughter Kendall; his parents, Don Brumfield and Gayla Brumfield; his grandmother Mary Huguley; his sister Cristi Lubera (Scott); his niece Kate; his nephew Nic; his uncle Ricke Huguley; his aunt Carla Carter (Bill); his cousins, Matthew and Mark Carter; and his pet Frankie. He is also survived by his granddad, father, uncles, nephew and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to RBI, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, and National Parks Conservation Association, in Derek's name would be appreciated.
