He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert J. Nichter and Mildred M. Nichter; his brother Anthony Nichter; his sister-in-law Peggy Nichter; and his nephew Robert Nichter.

He is survived by : his sisters, Patricia Nichter-Carlson and Susan Nichter; and his nieces and nephews, Nicole Carlson, Caitlin Coats, Casey Coats and Daniel Nichter. He is also survived by extended family members and close friends.
