He was predeceased by: his father Karl F. Elze; and his wife Mary Jean Elze. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Elze (Jill Scatchard), Suzan Mannisto (Dan), Marian Thibault (Andre), David Elze, John Elze (Sylvia), Rob Elze and Chris Elze (Margie Neeley); his sister Marie Michell of San Pedro; his nephew Patrick Michell (Felicia); and his niece Monica Michell Byars (Rick). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Carl requested donations to the Healdsburg Kiwanis Club.
