He was predeceased by: his parents, Lenore Haff Markwitz and Willliam Cleveland Markwitz; and his siblings, Daryl Danzl, Martha Mawhinney and Joseph Markwitz.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Josephine Rummell; his children, Abigail Markwyn (Kevin Guilfoy) and Christopher Markwyn (Nicole Maxwell); his grandchildren, James Markwyn, William Markwyn, Harry Guilfoy, Molly Guilfoy, Catherine Maxwell and Owen Markwyn; his nieces, Robin Korn and Lee Ann Bauer; and his nephew David Leonard.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Museum of Sonoma County for the history collection.
