We announce the death of Gerald Clement Riss of Simi Valley, California, who passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 74. Gerald will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Riss and Sylvia Riss; his brother Lawrence "Larry" Riss; and his cousin Michael "Ermer" Novak. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Riss; his children, Eric Riss, Veronica Riss, Brian Riss and Lexi Riss (Brian); his grandchildren, Garrett and Dean; and his siblings, Thomas Riss and Melissa Riss (Thomas). He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.

Upon his retirement in June 2022, Gerry received special recognition from MWD's Board of Directors for his exemplary contributions to the organization and the region.
