Joyce Smith wrote a sympathy message

“I am very deeply saddened to hear of Richard's passing. Richard was always such a loving and giving man. I met Richard 10 years ago through the Delta Coin Club. And occasionally I would pick him up for the meeting and take him back home. He had such wonderful stories to share about "times gone by" in Stockton and how much he LOVED Superman. :) He will be missed! RIP Richard!”
