He was predeceased by: his parents, Jakob Szakala and Anna Szakala; and his brothers, Alexander, George and Paul Szakala.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Szakala; his daughter Heidi Szakala; his stepchildren, Patty Troncozo, Kathryn Williamson, Robin Dung and Russell Fry; and his siblings, Victor Szakala and Eugenia Corbin. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
