She was predeceased by: her husband João Espínola; her son Emílio Dias Espínola; her father Emílio Dias; her stepmother Natália Dias; and her mother Luzia Amburzina.
She is survived by: her sons, Julio D. Espínola (Angelina), Oscar Espínola (Ana) and Manuel Espínola (Leopuldina); her siblings, Esmeralda Dias, Ângela Carmona (Luis), Linita Freitas (Jorge), Conceição Costa (Joe) and António Dias (Maria); and her grandchildren, Sandra Silva (Ricardo), Roberto Espínola (Claudia), Bruno Espínola, Odete Teixeira, Rute (Luciano) of Sousa Espínola, Juliann Faria (João), Luzia Underwood (Damian), Julio Dores Espínola, Vítor Oliveira, Jennifer Espínola-Maciel (Erasmo) and Alicia Espínola. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
