She was predeceased by : her parents, Francis M. Pottenger Jr. and Elizabeth Saxour Pottenger; her siblings, Samuel (Rowena), Francis III (Larma) and Barbara Shumar (James); and her great-nephew James Grant Shumar.

She is survived by : her nieces and nephews, James Shumar, Jr. (Jennifer), Robert Shumar (Beth), Francis Jeffery Pottenger (Lois), Tyler Pottenger (Faith), Marcus Pottenger (Gail), Samuel Pottenger (Amy), Nancy Shumar, Margaret Peterson (Jeff), Mary Hockaday (Robert) and Veronica Becker-Wilkie (Dick); and also Shaundi Adrian Mann.

Donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
