Linda Marie (Zander) Smith Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Marie (Zander) Smith, who left us peacefully at home on July 5, 2025 at the age of 68. Linda was born in Vallejo, California on August 3, 1956 to Peter and Norma Zander, and she was a lifelong resident of this community.
A proud graduate of Vallejo High School in 1974, Linda's early years were marked by her involvement as a Bluebird in the Camp Fire Girls. Following high school, she dedicated herself to a fulfilling 37-year career with the Solano County Probation Department, retiring in 2011 as an office supervisor. Her dedication to public service was a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.
In 1978, Linda married the love of her life, William "Bill" Smith, and together they raised two daughters, Marie and Nicole. Family was Linda's greatest joy – whether it was hosting holiday gatherings, family reunions, or just spending time with her loved ones. Her kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Linda had a deep love for nature, especially the ocean. She cherished camping trips, cruises to Alaska, and all the beauty the world had to offer. Her passions also included cooking, where her culinary talents brought joy to countless family meals.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband Bill Smith, her daughters Marie (John), Bailey and Nicole (Anthony McClure) Smith, and her cherished grandchildren John L Bailey Jr, Rome McClure, and Reign McClure. She is also survived by her mother, Norma Van Alfen Zander, her brother Richard (Brenda) Zander, her nephews Peter (Kate) Zander and William Zander, along with numerous cousins, including her childhood "partner in crime" Billy Campbell.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Peter Zander, in 2010.
A funeral service in honor of Linda will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00am at Twin Chapels (1100 Tennessee St, Vallejo CA 94590), with a graveside service to follow at Skyview Memorial Cemetery (200 Rollingwood Dr, Vallejo CA 94591). The reception will take place following the graveside service at Open Door Christian Church (3353 Broadway St, American Canyon CA 94503). All who knew and loved Linda are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Hospice & Home Health Care Services (7031 Koll Center Pkwy #230, Pleasanton CA 94566) in her memory.
Linda's spirit, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed, but she will always live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
