She was predeceased by: her parents, Al Lyon and Tutty Lyon; her son Scott Akkerman; her sister Susan Lyon Christensen; her brother-in-law Richard Christensen; her brother Ross Lyon; her parents-in-law, Wendell "Pete" and Katie Akkerman; her brother Alan; and her sister-in-law Madreen Hudson (Akkerman).
She is survived by: her husband Michael J. "Mike" Akkerman; her sons, Brad (Elizabeth) and Neill (Jessica); her grandchildren, Noah, Willem, Rhett Akkerman, Soiyer, Dailee and Portlynd Perkins; and her brother Mark Lyon. She is also survived by three nieces and five nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Basil the Great Catholic Church (1230 Nebraska St, Vallejo, CA 94590).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Susan Lyon Christensen Scholarship Fund at St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School, 1500 Benicia Road, Vallejo 94591.
