He was predeceased by: his parents, Mel Aranas and Mary Aranas. He is survived by: his children, Chris Aranas (Rachel), Cindy Matanane (David), Craig Aranas (Stephanie), Toni Perez (Victor), Greg Grose (Del Rae) and Teri Aranas; his grandchildren, Victoria, Mannix, Cassidy, Colton, Camden, Siena, Tasha, Carl and Gianna; and his wife Bonda. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
In his final decade, Richard became a passionate supporter of Fresno State University, generously contributing to women's athletics—particularly the basketball and volleyball program—through scholarships and endowments via the Bulldog Foundation.
