He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. James Frank Kneece and Emaleen Corley Kneece Orrock. He is survived by: his brothers, Steve C. Kneece of Newberry and Dr. Robert H. Kneece (Shilpa Kneece); and his nephew Vikram James Kneece of Columbia, SC..

“. Dan Kneece was not only a dear friend but a fellow filmmaker and in my opinion a legendary Camera Operator. The last time we did talk was about week before he passed. We talked about my favorite film Lost Highway. He would tell stories about his life in the movies and the people he worked with. He was also generous with his vast knowledge of filmmaking and he elevated everything he worked on. Above all of this he was a son and brother and my heart goes out to his family. God bless you.”
