He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Ruiz and Julia Villa Avila Melgoza (Santos); his wife Evangelina Ruiz; and his daughter Veronica Maldonado. He is survived by: his children, Lupe, Juan and Carolina Ruiz; his grandsons, Miguel and Anthony Ruiz; and his adoptive son Manuel Mendoza. He is also survived by his siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
