It is with sadness that the passing of Larry Eugene Van Essen (Visalia, California) is shared. Larry, born on February 18, 1944, passed away on October 20, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Larry will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor Larry by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though Larry is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. Larry’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Essen and Frekea Van Essen; and his wife Betty Vander Steen. He is survived by: his sister Rose; his daughters, Rebecca TeVelde (Bernard), Leah Geertsema (Mark) and Sarah Willborn (Casey); and his sister Jo (Rose). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, several sister and brother in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Visalia Christian Reformed Church (1030 S Linwood St, Visalia, CA 93277).
