She was predeceased by: her parents, Dominico Laterza and Mary Laterza; her husband Duane Swearingen; her son Bradford; her sisters, Florence Bair and Bernice Bartolucci; her in-law Rebecca Swearingen; and her sisters-in-law, Claudina Higgins and Delores Kassebaum.
She is survived by: her sister Amanda McGraw; her daughter Michelle Swearingen; her granddaughters, Amanda Koch (Eric), Rebecca Oren (Wesly) and Anna Swearingen; her great grandchildren, Soren, Freddie and Charlie; and her sisters-in-law, Colleen Camara and Sandra Nilmeier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
