We announce the death of Merle Diehl of Walnut Creek, California, who passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 90. Merle will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore Swanson (Ted) and Mertie Swanson; and her stepfather Hobert Likens. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Diehl; her children, Diane Aceto (Robert) of Walnut Creek, Steven Diehl (Niessia) of Santa Rosa and David Diehl of Pleasant Hill; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Aceto (Tyson), Amy Aceto, Kelven Diehl, William Diehl, Juliet Diehl and Darlene.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Meals On Wheels or Canine Companions of Santa Rosa.
