She was predeceased by: her brother Samuel Apodaca; and her father Robert Apodaca. She is survived by: her husband Paul J. Gaitan; her children, Steven Shears (Dominique), Brett Shears (Tracey), Belinda Hunhoff (Josh), Paul M. Gaitan and Vincent Gaitan; her grandchildren, Parker, Moira Shears, Theo, Gabriel Shears, Blake, Broxton, Beckett Hunhoff and Aaliyah Gaitan; her mother Alice Apodaca; and her siblings, Connie Flores, Belinda Basurto and John Apodaca.
