Joe Edward Roybal Obituary

Joe Edward Roybal, 82, passed away at home Sunday morning, May 24, 2020 after battling dementia and other health related conditions.
Born December 29, 1937 in Walsenburg, CO. He attended Manual High School in Denver CO; he then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. He earned an Associates Degree from Community College of Denver in HVAC & Refrigeration Technology. He worked as an Operating Engineer for Equitable Real Estate for several years and then for Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant until his retirement. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years Evelyn Roybal (Trujillo); his children Pamela Navarrete (David), Daniel Roybal (Karen), and Laura Roybal; his granddaughters Jennifer Casanova (Joseph), Sabrina Roybal (Chris Simmons), and Joie Roybal; and great granddaughter Siena Casanova.
Survived by sisters Shirley Garcia, Kathleen Gomez (Fred), and Carla Mondragon (Frank); brothers Gilbert Roybal (Christine), and Ronald Roybal.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Viola Roybal; sisters Desi Wilkins, Connie Roybal, followed by sister Patricia Romero (Gerald) who passed away June 10, 2020.
Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday July 21, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4377 Utica St. Denver CO 80212.
Private burial to follow at Ft Logan National Cemetery in Denver CO.
Joe always said he wanted to “Attend his own funeral so he could visit with those who were going to be there”.
