She was predeceased by: her parents, William Dixon McReynolds and Irene Edith McReynolds (Erickson); her stepmother Bobbie Forman McReynolds; and her sister Virginia McReynolds. She is survived by: her former spouse Carleton; her husband Steve; her children, Ruth Rhodes of Arvada, Martha Rhodes (David French) of Cedar Rapids, Michael Rhodes (Wei-Chien Tu) of London, England and John Rhodes of Arvada; her grandchildren, Zachary, Leah Rhodes of Iowa City and Katherine Rhodes of Arvada; and her brother William McReynolds of McHenry, Illinois..

“Deep sympathy to the family of Judith Rhodes, with gratitude for her self-giving love for family, nature, education, and children. Noting in her obituary in the Cedar Rapids Gazette that she studied the work of William Blake as a graduate student at the University of Iowa, where my late husband, John E. Grant (d. Nov. 23, 2020), offered grad courses on Blake, I thought of his smile when recalling sparring matches with "Judy" and others in and out of class. Judy indeed kissed the joy as it flies!”
