He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Leo Carey and Katherine "Kay" Ann Geier; and his wife Jeanne May Staben Carey. He is survived by: his son Joe Carey (Denyell Carey) of Houston, TX; and his brothers, Tim Carey (Karen Bos-Carey) and Pat Carey (Samira Carey) of Sioux Falls, SD..
