He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Prewitt and Minnie Prewitt (Lucas); his former wife Mary "Bama" Prewitt (Fleming); and his siblings, Harry Prewitt and Janell Nail.
He is survived by: his children, Betty Jo Barth, John J Prewitt Jr. and Donald E Prewitt; his sister Amanda DeJulio; and his wife Mary Fleming. He is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great – grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
